For outboard engine buyers, Johnson is synonymous with dependability, durability, and blazing performance. Johnson was the first to introduce the heavy outboard engine in 1926. They were about the only company to offer a really quick motor from late 1925 to 1926 and they built the industry's finest outboard manufacturing facility on a piece of land on Lake Michigan's shoreline.

Today Bombardier Recreational Products no longer sells outboard motors under the Johnson brand as they have moved all sales entirely to Evinrude Outboard Motors . However they maintain the Johnson brand and continue to service and offer parts for existing Johnson outboards.
